Re: Buzzin for REECE OXFORD
I was surprised that Bilic let him do an interview with MoTD afterwards but he came across really well. I was expecting him to be all "yeah, bruv" and a bit of a Charlie Big Potatoes but he seems quite down to earth, which can only help him.

Woody. It's summer holidays.

I expect he's nervously waiting for his gcse results

Re: Buzzin for REECE OXFORD
Yes, Bilic explained very well what he wanted from that position and why he thought Oxford had the skills to fulfil it.
Nolan isn't a defensive player with the skills of a centre half and the mobility of a midfielder.
We have seen Nolan in that area before against Arsenal getting windburn as the likes of Ozil run off him and past him and we get another beating.
Sounds likely that Allardyce was keen to use the same tactics that have seen us beaten time after time after time by them.

West Ham's new 16-year-old star reveals he was rejected by Spurs

Reece Oxford has revealed that Tottenham rejected the chance to sign him before he joined West Ham.

The promising midfielder made his Barclays Premier League debut on Sunday in the 2-0 win at Arsenal aged 16 years and 236 days.

Despite being West Ham's youngest ever first-team player, he justified what had appeared a risky selection from manager Slaven Bilic by displaying a maturity beyond his years to largely nullify the collective threat of Mesut Ozil, Aaron Ramsey and Santi Cazorla.

Given the reputations of each there is little question that Oxford's contribution was key to their victory. He joined West Ham at under-13 level after leaving Tottenham and, ultimately, Spurs' loss could repeatedly prove their rivals' gain.

"I was at Tottenham for a while, but they did not want me, and I went to West Ham, which was the best option for me," said Oxford, who is scheduled to receive his GCSE results next week.

"I was a striker back then (at Spurs).

"The (West Ham) youth academy is great. They like to push players, we have a few youngsters playing (in the) under-21s, which is good.

"West Ham have been giving the young players a chance who are coming through.

"Last season I was on the bench a few times, so I expected to be around the team again this season, but not starting against Arsenal."

Shows Allardyce didn't understand Bilic's selection.

Slav said he wanted a guy who could slot in as 3rd CB at times, but comfortable on the ball and quick and mobile.

None of those things is Noble or Nolan.

It also explains why he's moved ahead of Payet in that role.

Other than Kouyate who would be wasted just sat there, and without having seen Obiang or signed Song, hard to see anyone else in the squad fulfilling that criteria (which is why the fact he's 16 didn't stop him being selected).

Re: Buzzin for REECE OXFORD
Did you see the list of names of youngest players to make premier league debuts on motd last night? Most have not fulfilled their early promise.

Hope this guy keeps his feet on the ground stays out of trouble and works hard. As Bilic said yesterday it will be monitoring him off the pitch that will be the hardest part.

Stirling, Sam pretty much said that he would have started Nolan in his commentary before the game.

Played that Irish sweeper position all my life (well until my last two years in which I played CH/Sweeper)... deffo a position you grow into with age and experience so what he has done so far is superb... exciting times and hopefully with us

Re: Buzzin for REECE OXFORD
under BFS he would have fckd off to colchester...

i'm not saying every single young player at the club is on par with rio, lampard etc...but some players whatever their age just raise their game against better opposition. Under BFS no kid ever would have started v arsenal. you know nolan would have started yesterday.

What a career this boy could go on to have

Re: Buzzin for REECE OXFORD
Old boys club, indeed. Andy Gray is over there as well.

To be fair to BFS, at half time he did say it was down to our well organized defending rather than a poor arsenal as to why we were 1-0 up.
